Visit Santa Claus in the Arctic Circle with FlixBus

Don’t believe in Santa Claus? Then you’ve probably never been to Rovaniemi in Finland. It’s the very official hometown of Santa and with FlixBus’ northernmost route in Europe you can visit him all year round.

The Arctic Circle runs right through Santa Claus Village in Rovaniemi. And even though the village is so far in the North of Finland, it attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors every year. Not only can you meet Santa Claus in person here, but you can also take a reindeer sleigh ride in winter or mail letters with an Arctic Circle stamp at the village post office. Word of Rovaniemi has spread around the world: Every year, the hardworking elves receive around half a million letters from all over the world.

Winter Holidays in Rovaniemi and Lapland

The City of Rovaniemi claims that Santa Claus Village was founded in 1985, when Santa decided to set up an office open to the public. In 2010, Rovaniemi was finally declared Santa’s official hometown. It’s also the capital of Lapland, Finland’s northernmost region. With breathtaking snow-covered landscapes, extensive ski resorts and a high chance of seeing the Northern Lights, Lapland has a lot to offer, especially in winter.

From Poland to the Arctic Circle: an impressive journey through several countries

With the new FlixBus connection Krakow–Rovaniemi, children accompanied by adults, teenagers and all big Christmas fans can deliver their wishes to Santa Claus in person. Two of the FlixBusses on the route were given a festive makeover for the occasion.

But even after the holidays, the doors of the village remain open, because Santa doesn’t take a holiday: you can meet him here 365 days a year. The FlixBus route Krakow–Rovaniemi is operated daily in both directions. Travelling on the northernmost route in the European FlixBus network is already an experience in itself: on the way from Poland to Finland, FlixBus first crosses the Baltic states of Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia with stops in the respective capital cities. The trip then continues with the ferry from Tallinn to Helsinki, which is already included in the ticket price. Once on the Finnish mainland, FlixBus heads to the north of the country.

The journey from Krakow to Rovaniemi is over 2000 kilometers long and takes about 38 hours. From Helsinki you can reach Santa Claus Village in about 12 hours. Tickets can be booked at www.flixbus.com or in the app.
