Munich, 6th February 2025– 366 days full of journeys and stories: Last year, FlixBus and FlixTrain brought people around the world to their favorite destinations. Its time for a look back.

Ranking: Favorite Global Destinations of Passengers

Flix passengers around the world preferred to travel to some of the most vibrant and captivating cities last year. Paris, with its timeless charm claimed the top spot as the number one international destination. Lisbon, known for its rich culture and Ankara, a city blending history and modernity also secured their places at the top of the list. Munich and Porto followed in fourth and fifth place. A few surprises also made it to the top 20. Cities like Lyon and Bursa are proof that even less touristy cities are worth a trip. For trips in Germany, major cities also came out on top. In 2024, most passengers in Germany travelled to Berlin, followed by Hamburg, Frankfurt, Munich and Cologne. In 2023, 31% of the FlixBus network destinations worldwide had populations of fewer than 20,000, underscoring Flix’s commitment to make traveling more accessible.[1]

The longest FlixBus journey

A passenger who embarked on a multi-day FlixBus journey from Málaga in September reminds that no journey is too far with Flix. The journey took four days and three nights from southern Spain to Tallinn in Estonia. The remarkably long journey took them across the continent with stops in Lisbon, Paris and Berlin. With 5,386 kilometers covered, this was the longest FlixBus route booked in Europe last year. Interestingly, the longest direct connection booked via FlixBus in 2024 was from Bucharest to Palermo that covered around 3,253 kilometers. Thanks to a dense network of night bus routes, FlixBus also makes such longer journeys possible without any interruptions and brings travelers comfortably to their destination while they are asleep.

Fans travelled collectively to the UEFA Championship

During the UEFA Euro Championship, which took place from June 14 to July 14 in various German cities, passengers travelled remarkably long distances with FlixBus and demonstrated their fandom as soon as they arrived. For example, individual passengers travelled from Lisbon to Hamburg during the UEFA matches. Increase in passenger numbers were also recorded on the routes from the UK to Germany. All German host cities were served directly by FlixBus, FlixTrain or both means of transport. Flix also reached a new milestone by becoming the official partner of the UEFA Europa League and UEFA Conference League 2024.

Baby on Board: The Youngest Flixbus Passenger

FlixBus and FlixTrain welcome travellers of all ages- but one passenger was certainly unexpected on this journey from Warsaw to Vienna. In January, a baby was born on a FlixBus near the Czech city of Brno. Medical help was quickly on hand, making this newborn the youngest person to have travelled with Flix in 2024.

Curious Lost & Found Stories

With so many trips, it’s no surprise that passengers sometimes leave belongings behind.  In total, the European Flix stores reported around 20,000 lost items last year, with suitcases and bags being the most commonly forgotten. However, there were some surprises for bus and train staff at the end of the trip: the list ranges from microphones and a tattoo machine with all its accessories to bicycles, whether children’s bikes or large models. Lost items are kept for six months and returned by mail if their owners can be identified. Expensive smartphones, however, are often retrieved much sooner, as passengers often typically locate them using tracking apps and contact the relevant FlixStore themselves.
