FlixBus India approaches 400-bus fleet as network spans 330 cities across 14 states
FlixBus India is approaching a 400-bus fleet and now operates across more than 330 cities and 1,400 stops in 14 states and four Union Territories, working with over 60 fleet partners. The company entered India in February 2024 as part of Flix’s global intercity network, which spans more than 40 countries and carried 99 million passengers in 2025, generating over €2 billion in revenue. FlixBus India expanded its fleet by 150% in 2025 and is targeting a further 80% increase in 2026. “By 2030, India will become the largest country for Flix globally in terms of passenger volume,” Max Zeumer, Chief Commercial Officer at Flix, told Business Standard in April 2026.
South India: two years in, over half the network
FlixBus entered South India in September 2024. As of September 2026, more than 50% of its India network spans the region. Year-on-year network growth from Bengaluru reached 260%, from Hyderabad 159%, and from Chennai 100%, compared to September 2025. To build further density, FlixBus is adding 120 buses across its southern network in Q3 and Q4 2026 and will extend connectivity to Guntur, Coonoor, and Ooty. A new Hyderabad-Pondicherry connection, operated with a Volvo Sleeper service, adds inter-state connectivity between Telangana and Tamil Nadu.
“South India has become a significant part of FlixBus India’s journey, and the fact that more than half of our network is now in the region reflects the depth of the opportunity we see here. The next phase is about building density: connecting more cities, increasing capacity and making intercity travel a more accessible and dependable choice for passengers,” said Surya Khurana, Managing Director, FlixBus India.
Electric intercity services in Andhra Pradesh
In May 2026, FlixBus India announced a partnership with Green Drive Mobility, an EV mobility and logistics platform, to operate electric intercity bus services on the Vijayawada-Visakhapatnam corridor in Andhra Pradesh, one of the state’s busiest travel routes. The first phase covers four electric buses. FlixBus India has also agreed a partnership with Vertelo to deploy 500 electric buses, with rollout subject to vehicle availability, charging infrastructure readiness, and commercial viability. The company currently operates electric services on two corridors in Andhra Pradesh, FlixBus India’s fastest-growing market.
Partnership with India’s Ministry of Tourism
On World Tourism Day, 27 September 2026, FlixBus signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, becoming the first global intercity mobility company to partner with the ministry under the Incredible India campaign. The MoU was signed in the presence of Union Tourism Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, Secretary Bhuvnesh Kumar, and Additional Secretary Suman Billa.
