Madrid, January 21st, 2026 – In the context of Mexico’s participation as Guest Country at the 46th edition of FITUR 2026, one of the world’s leading international tourism trade fairs, Mexico’s Secretary of Tourism (Sectur) and Flix, global leader in travel technology for long-distance ground transportation, announced the launch of Tren Maya ticket sales through Flix’s global platform.

Starting January 21st, travelers will be able to purchase Tren Maya tickets via the Flix website, mobile app and physical sales points, significantly expanding access to one of Mexico’s most transformative tourism and infrastructure projects.

This collaboration reinforces the shared commitment of Sectur and Flix to position Mexico as a top global travel destination, support sustainable socio-economic development across the country’s southeast and democratize access to modern, affordable transportation options for travelers from around the world.

“As of today, any traveler – Mexican or international – can book their Tren Maya journey through Flix,” said Carlos Magaña, Managing Director of Flix Mexico. “As a Mexican, I’m deeply proud to help connect more people to our extraordinary cultural heritage and natural landscapes.”

Tren Maya: A new way to explore southeastern Mexico

One of Mexico’s most ambitious infrastructure initiatives, Tren Maya spans 1,554 kilometers across the Yucatán Peninsula, connecting five key states: Tabasco, Campeche, Chiapas, Yucatán and Quintana Roo. Operating a fleet of 42 modern trains and offering Tourist and Premier classes, Tren Maya already transports over one million passengers annually, transforming travel across the region.

Sectur and Flix: Strengthening tourism through global connectivity

Since entering the Mexican market in May 2025, Flix has worked closely with Mexico’s Secretary of Tourism to promote domestic travel. Last September, this collaboration was

further reinforced by signing a license agreement allowing Flix to use the “Mexico” brand, amplifying the country’s presence across the 45 countries where Flix operates.

Flix will also launch a specially branded bus on its Spain–Portugal route, featuring graphic elements inspired by Mexico’s heritage, history and destinations, bringing Mexico’s tourism message directly to European audiences.
