To assess its progress within a scientifically recognized framework, Flix established near-term targets for emissions reduction with the Science Based Targets initiative.

Timeline
2013
Flix launches its first long-distance bus line in Germany
between Munich and Nuremberg, backed by its first investor, HV Holtzbrinck Ventures.
2014
First international long-distance lines from Germany to Austria, Switzerland and the Czech Repulic
and launch of FlixBus app as the first of many innovative travel-tech solutions. General Atlantic became a new investor. Option of CO2 emissions offset now available for Flix’s passengers.
2015
First domestic long-distance bus connections outside of Germany (France, Italy and the Netherlands)
and new countries joining the FlixBus network (Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg).
2016
Further expansion into Croatia, Slovenia, Spain and Hungary.
Silverlake becomes a new investor and Flix acquires Megabus and Postbus.
2017
Strong development of domestic networks in Sweden, Denmark, Czech Republic.
New country launches include Poland, Romania, Portugal, BiH, Serbia, Ukraine, Bulgaria and Norway. Flix acquires Hellö, Polski Bus and Eurolines Romania and positions itself on Google Maps as the first solution for the long-distance bus travel.
2018
Expansion to the second continent with Flix’s launch in USA.
Acquisition of Swebus and Cliss HR. Launch of FlixTrain in Germany and first electric buses in France and Germany. Flix launches new tech features such as Google Pay, Google Assistant, seat reservation and “Where is my bus” option.
2019
With the acquisition of Kamil Koç, Flix enters Türkiye and gains market leading position in the country.
TCV and Permira join as new investors. Launch in Ukraine and Slovakia.
2020
Expansion of new domestic lines in Portugal
and country launches in the UK, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania. Solar panel buses tested in selected markets.
2021
Brazil joins the network as the first country in South America.
Acquisition of iconic Greyhound, gives FlixBus market-leading position in North America. Launch of first biogas-powered FlixBus in Benelux and FlixTrain in Sweden.
2022
FlixMobility GmbH becomes Flix SE
and opens new Flix NA entity and launches Canada as a new market in North America.
2023
Flix celebrates its first decade of success
and unifies its offering for North America with the integration of Flix and Greyhound booking services and technology. Launch in Chile, second country in South America.
2024
With the Launch in India
Flix expands to over 40 countries across four continents.
